My buddy Jake and I were at his aunt and uncle's the other day fishing. We were really wanting to pick up some catfish but there was nothing happening. Even the perch that usually bite on nearly every cast were no where to be found. But, just as we were about to throw in the towel and call it a night, we spotted this massive snapping turtle that they had been trying to get out of the lake for years with no luck. So, we decided to give it a shot!
Well, long story but we managed to hook the thing and trap it under a plastic tub. But then, we couldn't work out how to kill it. We tried all sorts of things but this turtle would just not die. So, finally we held it down with a couple shovels and I chopped off its head with a hatchet.
That's right...a hatchet. Like we were some sort of outdoorsmen or something.
I looked up some information about snapping turtles later on that night and it confirmed what I had already thought. If one of those things grabs onto your finger or a toe or something similar, you just as well say goodbye to that. Their jaws are that powerful. And my was it ever in a foul mood and looking for someone to crunch.
